Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

FrontendGeek ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the FrontendGeek Chrome extension collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our extension.

1. Information We Collect

The FrontendGeek extension collects the following information:

  • Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and profile information (name, profile picture) from Google OAuth. This is used to associate saved jobs and contributions with your account.
  • Saved job data: When you click "Add to FrontendGeek" on LinkedIn or YouTube, we store the post link, job details, and summary you choose to save. This data is stored in our secure database and linked to your account.
  • Extension preferences: Your settings (e.g., Job Search toggle, YouTube toggle, keywords) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data stays on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to: provide the extension's core functionality (saving jobs and resources to your FrontendGeek collection); authenticate your identity; display your saved jobs on frontendgeek.com; and improve our services. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

The extension integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Google: We use Google OAuth for sign-in. Google's privacy policy applies to the data you provide during authentication.
  • Supabase: We use Supabase to store your saved jobs and account data. Supabase is a secure, GDPR-compliant database service.
  • LinkedIn & YouTube: The extension runs on LinkedIn and YouTube pages to add the "Add to FrontendGeek" button. We do not access or store content from these platforms beyond what you explicitly choose to save.

4. Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • Storage: To save your preferences (toggles, keywords) locally.
  • Identity: To enable Google sign-in.
  • Active tab, Scripting, Tabs: To inject the "Add to FrontendGeek" button on LinkedIn and YouTube pages when you enable the feature.
  • Host permissions (LinkedIn, Supabase, YouTube): Required to add the button on these sites and to save data to our backend.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth. Data transmitted to our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Access to your saved jobs is restricted to your account through row-level security policies.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your saved jobs and contributions are retained until you delete them or close your account. You can delete individual saved items from the FrontendGeek website. To request deletion of all your data, contact us at the email below.

7. Children's Privacy

Our extension is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact Us
